RebelFest 2019 line up; three day performing arts festival – Friday 6 to Sunday 8 September.

Exciting news the RebelFest 2019 line up for our three day performing arts festival is now in.

From Friday 6 September to Sunday 8 September, RebelFest 2019 returns to The Playground Theatre for three days of theatre, music, performance, dance, film, art, science and spoken word, all revolving around the theme of “the Rebel.” The festival seeks to embrace individuality, to question convention, to challenge the established, to resist the flow.

Presented in association with the Westway Trust, Portobello Radio,  E-Merge Space and RBKC Arts Grants, RebelFest presents artists from both the local community and from further afield.

Friday 6 September RebelFest 2019 line up.

Friday 6 Sept (5.30pm – midnight) sees E-Merge Space curate breaking talent from the worlds of theatre, music, art and spoken word as they “create a benevolent and safe hub for artists to collaborate and inspire each other.” Tickets for this night are priced from £7.00 to £5.00.

Saturday 7 September RebelFest 2019 line up.

Saturday 7 Sept (11.00am – 1.00pm) sees a Rebel Cinema Club curated by Native Spirit with cutting edge films about Burkina Faso, Trinidad & Tobago and Paramin. Highlights across the rest of the day (2.00pm – midnight) include a punk opera called The Crocodile of Old Kang Pow, a take on Desert Island Discs – “Rebel Island Records” – with Don Letts, live performance from Ladbroke Grove rapper Peaky, a chance to try your hand at the modern art of Soundpainting and talks from both Extinction Rebellion and Drug Wars, as well as much, much more.

Sunday 8 September RebelFest 2019 line up.

Sunday 8 Sept is Kids’ Day (11.00am – 6.00pm) with workshops from Kids on the Green and Grief Encounter, a Rebel Science bus tour with Star Wars’ rebel pilot Jack Klaff and a workshop with Extinction Rebellion Youth.
Back to the adults in the evening (7.00pm – 11.00pm) as we take a trip to the “End of the Pier” with Dick’s Rebellion Bingo, a right proper knees up with The Cockney Sparrows and cabaret/comedy from PussyKatBangkok, Solitaire and Miles Elliot.

Food and drink will be supplied throughout the weekend by Rima and Mars of The Playground Café.

Entrance is “Pay What You Can” on Saturday and Sunday, and from £7.00 to £5.00 on Friday 6 September.

The Playground Theatre on Latimer Road is a 150 seat neighbourhood theatre, devoted to creating bold new work through exciting collaborations. We aim to break down barriers through live performance. We are a welcoming space – an inclusive hub for all artists and audiences.
