“Valued”.  Project Manager (Part-time, fixed-term)

 

Contract: Fixed Term – freelance

Estimated: 20 days in total spread over the duration of the project

Start Date: Early June

End Date: End of October

Salary: £3,000 total fee
Report to: The Playground Theatre’s Artistic Director

Hours of Work: Flexible

 

Valued is the accompanying education project to a new verbatim play exploring the themes of human rights, social conditions, and injustice and the theatrical device of verbatim theatre.

It is suitable for Key Stage 4 (ages 14-16) and Key Stage 5 (ages 16-18) pupils studying Citizenship, Drama, and English.

The first stage of the project will consist of in-school workshops designed to illuminate the themes of the production as well as the theatrical devices used within it. The second stage will see participating schools attend a school’s matinee performance of the production with a professional cast.

The third stage will see experienced facilitators return to participating schools to deliver a 90-minute-workshop that allows for reflection and response about the production. The fourth stage will work in close liaison with teachers from the participating schools to select 20 students who will be invited to a week-long retreat at Playground Theatre to devise a piece of verbatim theatre about the social themes addressed in the production. And the final stage will see the creation of fulsome resources to be used to continue learning in the classroom.

 

Purpose of Job

You will provide administrative and logistical support to a new education project called Valued in support of a major new production in partnership with Nick of Time Productions. The project will include developing and maintaining project plans, corresponding with schools and the creative team as well as and meeting and liaising with a wide range of people from the community local to our theatre. You will also support digital communications such as marketing the project to schools as well as setting up online video meetings etc.
