Support The Playground Theatre

Generous donations from supporters, friends and patrons enable the Playground Theatre to  develop new and exciting work.

Originally an old bus depot, it was then used, for a number of years, for rehearsals and to workshop experimental pieces. In 2017 the doors opened to the public and The Playground became a fully-fledged theatre.

All money raised through donations is used to support new and local theatre practitioners to create extraordinary work which can be shared with the local community. The Playground Theatre is proud of its thriving out-reach programme which includes Well Read
and Well Written.

Outreach projects

Well Written is a writing project created by The Playground Theatre in partnership with St Charles Hospital and the Adult Learning Within Reach (WEA) team. Delivered by playwright Stewart Permutt and The Playground Theatre Artistic Director Anthony Biggs for mental health hospital patients; it has helped to extend a therapeutic environment into theatre. The course was co-designed for and with inpatients including the design of the program poster.
Well Read  is a script reading project  created by The Playground Theatre in partnership with St Charles Hospital  which involves mental health and older adult patients. It again extends a therapeutic environment into the theatre.
We would like to run more outreach projects, but need donations in order to do so.
